Sources cited by Brazilian financial daily Valor Economico say that, six months after it toom a majority stake in the business, new owners Advent International have embarked on an aggressive price-cutting policy after underwhelming performance in H2 last year. Other plans under consideration include a rationalisation and consolidation of the nine banners currently under operation, something Walmart had planned before the sale. It is also expected that some hypermarkets could be converted to the Maxxi Atacadao hybrid cash & carry model.
